A mum who felt "worthless" following surgery died of a drug and alcohol overdose, an inquest has found.
Sharon Hartman died aged just 45 on June 25, 2021, at Southport Hospital after being taken off life support.
An inquest held today (December 2) at Bootle Town Hall heard that the mum-of-two struggled with addiction and had recently been diagnosed with breast cancer.

On June 22 Ms Hartman was found suffering from abdominal pains and vomiting at her flat in Southport by her ex-partner and was taken to Southport Hospital.
She was conscious on admission to hospital but despite being put on a ventilator her condition "deteriorated" and the decision was made to withdraw life-support on June 25, she died later that day.

Following today's verdict her daughter Shirley Hartman, 28, described her mum as "unique" and "crazy in a good way."
She told The ECHO : "Mum was kind-hearted despite what she was going through. Amazingly strong and just the best, craziest mother I could ever have. Crazy in a good way, personality wise.
"Overall a very different, unique, strong woman.
"She was an angel in disguise and a very tough woman. I could go on."

At the time of her mum's death, Shirley told The ECHO that her mum suffered with mental health issues and had felt "insecure" and "worthless" following a mastectomy after being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019.
She said: "She always drank alcohol in a social way but over the years it became an addiction with substance misuse. Her mental health was terrible as well.
"In 2019 she had breast cancer and also had a mastectomy which was such a hard process in itself. Due to the pandemic her reconstructive surgery was continuously pushed back which made her feel even more insecure and she felt like she was worthless."

At the inquest, the medical cause of death was give as multi-organ failure due to "multi-drug and alcohol overdose."
"Chronic and current heavy alcohol and tobacco intake" was also given as a contributory factor in the death.
Medical evidence given stated that Ms Hartman has ingested medication including paracetamol and pregabalin as well as a litre of vodka two days before she died.
Passing a narrative verdict of "drug and alcohol related death" Coroner Julie Goulding said: "Sharon sadly died at Southport Hospital on June 25.
"She had taken a number of pain medications in conjunction with alcohol.
"Not withstanding appropriate care Sharon's condition deteriorated resulting in her death."
Following her death her daughter Shirley organised a GoFundMe page to "give her mum "a lovely send off."
The page raised over £1.800 of its £4,000 target, with Sharon's friends and loved ones leaving comments in tribute to her.
Donna Guinan commented on the fundraising page saying: "I can’t believe you've gone Shaz-lar. This time two or three weeks ago we were in the Metro playing pool and having a laugh.
"You are loved and missed by a lot of people but I know you are at peace now with your mum. I saw you last on Friday and you were in a great mood - just goes to show we don’t know what goes on in people’s heads.
"My heart goes out to Shirley and Steven at this sad time. Rest easy Shaz. Love you."
