Angel Di Maria substituted during PSG game after family suffer ‘very violent’ home robbery

Paris Saint-Germain winger Angel Di Maria was substituted during Sunday’s loss at home to Nantes amid unconfirmed reports his home had been burgled with his family inside.

Around the hour mark, PSG coach Mauricio Pochettino left the field for a few moments following an earlier discussion with sporting director Leonardo, who was on his cell phone.

Di Maria was then substituted, with Pochettino accompanying his countryman Di Maria back to the locker room with his arm around him.

RMC Sport in France have reported that Di Maria’s family - his wife and two daughters - were inside the house at the time of what has been described as a “very violent” incident. It is reported that the burglars and Di Maria’s family would not have come into contact.

L’Equipe added that watches and jewellery with a potential value of €500,000 were stolen.

According to RMC Sport, club captain Marquinhos’ parents were also burgled on Sunday night, adding that Marquinhos’ dad was struck in the face and chest.

"There was a situation outside of sport itself that you're now aware of," Pochettino said after the game, without mentioning Di Maria by name.

"For the players this goes beyond soccer and it should be taken into consideration."
