Ange Postecoglou warned Celtic patience won't last forever as Kyogo misstep slammed

Fuming Davie Provan insists Ange Postecoglou needs to cut out the teamsheet missteps and play his best players regularly.

The Aussie has won the hearts and minds of the Celtic fans with his charm and bold style of football.

However, a 0-0 draw with Livingston on Saturday was met with boos as a frustrated home crowd watched them spurn the chance to go top of the league.

There were one or two puzzling aspects about the Hoops' performance including the absence of Kyogo Furuhashi and the call to put Giorgios Giakoumakis on penalties.

Postecoglou has since explained that Giakoumakis is their designated penalty-taker. Kyogo's absence, meanwhile, has been put down to fatigue as he joined Celtic after playing most of the J-League season with Vissel Kobe.

But neither of those explanations pleased former Celtic player Provan.

On The Go Radio Football Show he ranted: "I don't know how many times Ange can come out and say things are his fault and keep getting away with it.

"You want a penalty box striker in there. Kyogo on the bench doesn't make any sense.

"It reminds me of an Alex Ferguson quote a few weeks ago when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer left out Ronaldo. Ferguson was caught unawares saying 'you always play your best players.'

"This is a stage in the season where Kyogo is still fresh. We're not talking about February/March here. He's got to play him through the middle.

"The neutrals and the Celtic fans have got time for Ange Postecoglou, but only to a certain extent.

"He's got to start picking his strongest team and getting his best players on the pitch."
