Ange Postecoglou urged to win Europa League then sensationally quit Tottenham

Ange Postecoglou has found himself another unlikely backer in the shape of Tony Bellew.

The former Celtic boss has had a bit of a spat with Evening Standard reporter Dan Hutchison, who had written an article around the Aussie either being a hero or a clown based on how Tottenham fare in the Europa League final against Manchester United.

Winning the trophy would go a long way to making up for a miserable finish of 17th in the Premier League but losing out would continue the pain.

But the Aussie manager didn't take kindly to the language used in the article and called the reporter out during a press conference this week.

Answering a question from the same reporter, he said: "That depends on your outlook, Dan.

"But I'll tell you one thing, tomorrow, I'm not a clown, and I never will be, mate.

"You've really disappointed me that you've used such terminology about a person who, for 26 years, without any favours from anyone, has worked his way to a position where he's leading a club out in a final of a European major competition, for you to suggest that somehow, us not being successful means that I'm a clown, I'm not really sure how to answer that question."

Ally McCoist has already defender Postecoglou, insisting he was well within his rights to respond in that manner.

And now Everton-mad former boxer Tony Bellew has added himself to 'team Ange'. He told how he is rooting for Spurs to win the trophy at Manchester United's expense, mainly so Postecoglou can get one over on all of his detractors.

Speaking on talkSPORT's The LineUp, he said: "I hope Tottenham win that trophy and Ange Postecoglou walks into the press conference with a smile on his face and says ‘I told all you c***s. See all you gobs****s that said I don't win a trophy in my second year? Well I've done it again, I've won a trophy in my second year.

"See the mic and drops the mic. 'And you Daniel Levy as well, you can leg it. I'm off.'

"I hope he does because it would the greatest. Ange, I pray for you. I don't even believe in anything but I'm just hoping Ange Postecoglou gives it to everyone.

"Because I like what he stands for. 'It's who we are, mate'."
