Ange Postecoglou to Celtic ‘done deal’ as one key issue stands between Parkhead club and new manager announcement

It’s reported that Ange Postecoglou has agreed to become the new Celtic manager, with only one issue holding up the deal.

The Greek-Australian boss has emerged as the clear front-runner for the job after the pursuit of Eddie Howe ended in a dramatic collapse.

Postecoglou is currently in charge at Yokohama F. Marinos and refused to discuss his future following their win over Shimizu S-Pulse.

But according to journalist Scott McIntyre, who is based in Japan, he has already agreed to replace Neil Lennon at Parkhead.

The only thing standing between Celtic and their new manager is the need for his current club to find a suitable successor.

While Yokohama are not expected to stand in the way of Postecoglou, they won't release him until they've identified someone to replace him as they're roughly halfway through the J-League season with Asian Champions League qualification on the line.

Following Sunday's win the 55-year-old was coy over his future.

Postecoglou said: "Everyone knows me, knows that my focus is always on what’s in front of me.

"I’ve understood there’s some speculation around the future, but I’ve stopped thinking about the what-ifs in the world a long time ago.

“My focus the last couple of days has been on making sure we play well today.

"My focus is here.

"This is the job I’ve got, and I’ve always done that my whole career.

"I’m just focused on the job I have and making sure I do it well — or else other people will decide my future.”
