Ange Postecoglou three word Celtic assessment as Asian Football chief offers perspective

Ange Postecoglou has to deal with the “frustrating” process of becoming Celtic manager according to Andy Roxburgh, who knows him well.

The former Scotland manager is now technical director at the Asian Football Confederation, under which Postecolgou earned his coaching qualifications.

He’s the favourite to replace interim boss John Kennedy at Celtic Park but doesn’t possess the required UEFA Pro Licence.

Celtic have applied for dispensation in order to appoint the Greek-born Australian but it’s unlikely to be a swift and smooth process.

And Roxburgh warned it’s something that both parties just have to let take its course as he offered a three word assessment of the former Australian national team coach.

Roxburgh told the Daily Mail: "I know Ange very well. We think he is a top, top guy.

"He has been very successful both at club and international level.

"Ange was at my last two elite coaches forum events and spoke very well. I would describe him as strong, clever and progressive. Those are the words I’d use.

“It’s just the fact this is a process that UEFA go through and we can’t influence it in any way, shape or form.

“FIFA has now agreed there is a very clear process of how to check everything. So UEFA go through the process.

"It’s frustrating if you are lined up to do a job and have to face it, but it’s not about the individual here. It’s about the various cases they get annually and the process.”
