Ange Postecoglou sought for advice as former Australia defender wants Celtic success tip ahead of Ligue 1 job

Ange Postecoglou's footballing expertise will be called upon once again as he offers advice to fellow countryman Patrick Kisnorbo - with the former Scottish Premiership defender taking up a managerial role in Ligue 1.

Having moved from Australian side Melbourne City to ES Troyes in the French top-flight, Kisnorbo is ready to take on some of the world's biggest stars such as Lionel Messi, Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and more across the Channel. The former Hearts, Leicester City and Leeds United star is now part of the City Football Group (CFG), which owns Manchester City, New York City FC, Troyes, Melbourne City, Palermo and Yokohama F. Marinos - Postecoglou's former club - to name but a few, making even more links between Celtic and CFG as a result of staff joining the Hoops such as Jeremie Frimpong, Patrick Roberts and Ange himself.

And, with former Rangers star Kevin Muscat taking charge of Yokohama F. Marinos, there is an Australian revolution underway at CFG - something the Celtic boss could be more than happy to help out on, with Kisnorbo admitting coaches from his home nation 'hold value'.

"We all have ambitions and for me, it’s not any different. I want to be one of the best coaches in the world," Kisnorbo said to Australian Associated Press.

“I’ve been given this opportunity that not many people get and I’m very grateful and humbled to have that. It’s great, now you can see that Australian coaches are good – they hold value. We do a lot back home so hopefully there’s other coaches that have the opportunity to come overseas because the more Australian coaches that come overseas, the better.

“People don’t understand how hard it is just to do what coaches do to get these opportunities, because it’s very difficult. All I want is our game to grow in Australia, and if I can be a little help in that, it’s great."

Kisnorbo held a 57 per cent win ratio with Melbourne City, winning 41 of his 71 games in charge alongside two consecutive A-League titles and leaving the side top of the table before his departure to Europe - ranking as the most successful manager in their thirteen-year history.
