Frank McAvennie has slammed the Celtic backroom staff for posing alongside Ange Postecoglou after he won the Premiership Manager of the Month award.
The former Hoops striker didn’t like what he saw on social media in the aftermath of the announcement.
Earlier this week Postecoglou was awarded the October gong as his side went unbeaten by winning four and drawing one of their five games.
This form helped to close the gap on Rangers and put Celtic firmly in the title race.
But McAvennie has been left disappointed by how the club chose to celebrate their manager’s win - by including Postecoglou’s backroom team in the celebratory photos.
The man in charge would later insist that it was his choice to stand alongside John Kennedy, Stevie Woods and Stephen McManus but McAvennie was undeterred and speaking to Football Insider, he said: “It’s big for Ange.
“He’s had a good month and we have gone unbeaten, you can’t ask for more than that.
“Did you see the pictures? He was stood there with the award with his backroom staff.
“I’m not having that. They have done nothing. This is all down to him.
“I have said many times that Ange should have been allowed to bring his own team in when he joined.
“I think they are hindering him if anything. The club wants to show a united front, I get that.
“But this should be a moment for Ange to cherish, he’s doing so well at the moment.
“It’s his award, no one else’s.”
