Ange Postecoglou sick of 'condescending' Celtic questions as boss rails against the narrative he won't accept

Ange Postecoglou believes he's being condescended with questions about his understanding of the demands at Celtic.

The Parkhead boss confessed to growing tired of the inference that he hasn't grasped the scale of expectation in Glasgow's East End.

Celtic have lost three of their opening seven Premiership fixtures to slip six points behind reigning champions Rangers and Postecoglou's been baffled by premature declarations of another title heading to Ibrox.

He remained positive following a 1-1 draw with Dundee United on Sunday and leads his side into a huge Europa League test against Bayer Leverkusen on Thursday.

Postecoglou stressed he has no issue with criticism and scrutiny but feels there's a patronising element to the questions he faces in interviews and press conferences.

And he railed against critics he suspects have been out to get him "from day one".

The Celtic manager said: "The only thing I don't like is the condescending nature of the questions; that somehow I don't understand that if we don't win games of football; that I don't understand the magnitude of the football club; that I'm in charge of this rebuild and I don't understand what the ramifications are if I don't get it right.

"And maybe that's the intent, maybe people just want to be condescending. That's up to them.

"In terms of pressure, criticism or scrutiny, that's fair enough. That's what people who are passionate about the game will do when they analyse a team.

"I've got no issue with that.

"In terms of calling it early... I see no reason why you'd be calling somebody a champion in September when you've got 30-odd games to go."

Postecoglou continued: "If the intent is to be condescending towards me, who I am and my career, I guess they're achieving their point.

"My point about that is, I'm not going to change my approach because people keep talking about the fact there's pressure and it's Celtic.

"I took that task on board when I accepted the position and I've been given the responsibility to rebuild a team that will hopefully be successful, not just this year but for years to come.

"Every decision I make is with that purpose but I don't do that living with some bubble that I don't realise if it doesn't go well the responsibility will lie with me.

"I totally understand that.

"I don't think people think that. Some people - not all, some are being fair with their criticism and scrunity - but some want to be condescending towards me, they have been from day one.

"They probably think I don't deserve to be in this spot and that's fine, it's neither here nor there for me."
