Ange Postecoglou's first Celtic press conference in full as he speaks out on Kris Ajer and Odsonne Edouard situations

New Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou will sit down with his two wantaway stars as a matter of urgency.

But he gave nothing away when asked about the futures of Kris Ajer and Odsonne Edouard.

The Australian faced the media for the first time on Friday afternoon after exiting his quarantine period earlier in the week.

Introduced by chairman Ian Bankier and sitting alongside new chief executive Dominic McKay, he handled a number of tough questions — and was remarkably open when quizzed on how he felt being a second choice candidate with the club having missed out on Eddie Howe.

But it was on the subject of Ajer and Edouard he seemed his most guarded.

Postecoglou said: "I haven't spoken to either of them yet. I'll wait until I speak to both of them.

"They're both just arrived in the country, as have I. I'll have discussions with them and we'll make the best decisions for the football club.

"That's where my interest lies. For me, the individuals within that, I totally understand and respect their own wishes but I'll always make decisions in the best interests of this football club because that's my responsibility.

"Whatever I think is going to be best for our football club moving forward, that's the direction we'll go."

Postecoglou also spoke about the need for new arrivals, particularly with the club's first Champions League qualifier against FC Midtjylland less than a month away.

Asked when fans can expect his first signing, he quipped: "Yesterday, a couple of days ago?

"Look, we're working hard, and it's a challenging time all around the world in terms of signing players and the ability to even watch players.

"But the club's working awfully hard, I'm pushing them as hard as I can and we're hoping we can make some announcements very, very soon.

"And certainly, from our perspective, there is some urgency in at least couple of positions — particularly with this game coming up in four weeks' time."
