Ange Postecoglou makes new Daniel Levy admission after reacting to Tottenham exit

Ange Postecoglou has reacted to Daniel Levy’s shock exit from Tottenham, revealing that he had limited contact with the chairman during his time in charge at Spurs.

Levy’s surprise departure from Tottenham after almost 25 years was confirmed in a bombshell announcement made by the club last week.

It heralds the start of a new era for the club under the ownership of the Lewis family, who insist it is not for sale after rejecting two expressions of interest - including one from Amanda Staveley’s PCP International Finance.

Postecoglou’s Tottenham exit came three months before Levy’s, the Australian’s reign as manager ending with his sacking after two seasons in June despite delivering Spurs a first major trophy since 2008 in the Europa League final just weeks earlier.

Now quickly back in the Premier League after replacing the sacked Nuno Espirito Santo at the helm of Nottingham Forest, the former Celtic boss was inevitably asked about Tottenham moving on from Levy during his introductory press conference at the City Ground on Thursday.

"I don't think this is kind of the forum for me to speak about that at length,” said Postecoglou, whose first game in charge of Forest comes away against Arsenal in the Premier League on Saturday.

"I didn't have a great deal of interaction with Daniel, that's the reality of it. I tend to get on with my daily business and do what I need to do.

"He was there for a long time, he invested a hell of a lot in that football club in terms of building it up to where it was.

"I guess he appointed me so I've got to be thankful for that. Hopefully I repaid it by providing a trophy they hadn't had for a very long time."
