Ange Postecoglou lives by his 'We Never Stop' mantra as he details Celtic rest plan for players

We. Never. Stop.

That's the message Ange Postecoglou delivered to the Celtic support at the end of last season after winning the league title back from Rangers and it is a three word statement he lives and breathes by.

The Hoops are in Australia taking part in the Sydney Super Cup as part of Postecoglou homecoming with vital preparations underway for the second part of the season as the champions bid to make it back-to-back Premiership triumphs. They hold a nine point lead over Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side after 15 games and with the message loud and clear when the competitive action returns next month: "We want to get back and hit the ground running."

Postecoglou will give his players an eight or nine day rest following their trip Down Under - but when asked if he would be taking a break, the 57-year-old in true to fashion form admitted he will switch off when he retires.

Speaking to Celtic TV, he said: “A rest? Are you kidding me? There’s always things to do.

“That’s okay. The intensity and scrutiny is a constant, because I just want us to be better.

“I’ll get plenty of time to switch off when I retire.

“Right now there are important things to do and it’s my responsibility to make sure we are ready to go.

“The boys will have eight or nine days off and it will be good for them.

“It’s still a mid-season break so we don’t want them to get away from it totally, because we’ll need to get back into it.

“But the lads are really good, they are really focussed. It’s more of a mental break, with some work over that period.

“We want to get back and hit the ground running. We don’t want to be making up for lost time, or lost conditioning.

“Mentally it will be good for them, but I don’t think we’ll be far away from what we need to do.”
