Ange Postecoglou in Celtic 'chasing legends' confession as knowing Martin O'Neill treble nod sparks ultimate praise

Sheepish Ange Postecoglou admitted his is always 'chasing legends' at Celtic as he earned praise from Treble-winning Hoops boss Martin O'Neill.

The Australian took a step closer to a clean sweep of the silverware on offer in Scotland after Jota netted the only goal of the game in Scottish Cup semi-final against Rangers to set up a meeting with Inverness Caley Thistle in the final, putting Postecoglou on course for a Treble this season when they face off with the Scottish Championship side. Should they seal victory on their return to Hampden Postecoglou would join an elite of Treble winners including Jock Stein, Brendan Rodgers, Neil Lennon and O'Neill.

The Parkhead boss lapped up the post-match celebrations with the Celtic support as he orchestrated the fans in the joy after victory over Michael Beale's side - and he admitted he has to lap up these moments before knuckling down and looking to match the likes of O'Neill.

Asked if he was "enjoying" his post match celebrations, he laughed: "You have to enjoy it. They are hard earned. As special as I think I am there is always a legend that I am chasing who says 'I've done all that before'. That is the nature of this football club. I think it's important that you enjoy it, but we haven't done the job yet."

O'Neill cut in, heaping praise on the boss: "I think you are doing pretty ok." Postecoglou responded: "Well, thank you. I appreciate that. It means a lot."
