Does Ange Postecoglou have a point about the 'ridiculous' fixture list in the Premiership?
Keith Jackson : Probably but fast and furious is the way we like our festivities. The big Aussie is simply going to have to get used to it.
Michael Gannon : He does but it’s the clubs to blame. They want the winter break and that means fitting two months worth of matches into about three weeks. Can’t have it both ways.
Andy Newport : It was the clubs who asked for a winter break. If they don’t want a hectic December then they will have to accept playing on through January.
With the draws tomorrow, how far should Rangers and Celtic expect to go in their Euro campaigns?
Keith Jackson : Celtic should have a right good crack at going far in the new-look third tier. Rangers may need to get lucky in the draw against the Champions League drop-outs.
Michael Gannon : It looks a tough ask for Rangers to get through the next stage. Another last-16 spot would be tremendous. The Conference is more of a mixed bag. A fair wind and Celtic should be able to progress a few rounds.
Andy Newport : Rangers may find it tough reaching the last 16 like they’ve done the last two years. The Conference League looks a far easier job but it will depend on whether Postecoglou can get in reinforcements.
Do the government need to cut clubs a bit of slack amid rising panic over the new Covid variant?
Keith Jackson : What they need to do is work out a clear strategy for dealing with Omicron and communicate it properly. It feels like a confused picture already with potential to become a shambles in terms of self-isolations and postponement.
Michael Gannon : They need to get real. Footballers are tested all the time and there’s still doubt over what damage the new strain can do. Football has been a great distraction of the pandemic. It would be daft to diminish it when it might not be necessary.
Andy Newport : This Omicron variant seems a major threat to the country’s recovery from the pandemic and football can’t expect any favours when public health is at stake.
Record Sport's top 50 players of 2021 is out today. Who will lift player of the year in May?
Keith Jackson : Kyogo Furuhashi has made a remarkable start to his career at Celtic. If he keeps it going for the rest of the season then he’ll take some catching.
Michael Gannon : Craig Gordon. Rangers and Celtic players will split the vote no matter who comes out on top but everyone will agree the Hearts keeper has been sensational.
Andy Newport : Rangers ace Joe Aribo has been the pick of the bunch for the league leaders while Kyogo has been a sensation at Celtic Park. It could be a tight call between those two.
