Ange Postecoglou has Celtic firing again but Rangers front men will rip the dodgy Hoops defence to pieces – Hotline

For months it was Eddie Howe. But now Ange Postecoglou has won over the Celtic support it’s more a case of Eddie who?

Parkhead punters are back in love with their side, who have one foot in the Europa League after Wednesday’s thrilling 2-0 win against AZ Alkmaar.

Eddie Easson, Ballingry, said: “At the start of the season Rangers were odds on favourites to retain their title. They probably still are. Their fans were loving it when Eddie Howe shunned Celtic.

“But big Ange has silenced everyone with his no nonsense approach and his football philosophy.

“He has brought the feel-good factor back to Celtic. The players are smiling, wanting to play for him. What a difference a year makes.”

Gordon Ashley, Ayr, said: “Another excellent display from Celtic against top opposition. They look like they could carve open any defence at times. But more importantly, the defence, after a shaky first half-hour, started to look much more solid as the game wore on against a team who were two levels above Malmo.

“The clean sheet is a major boost.”

Stephen Mulhern, Dumbarton, said: “After witnessing Celtic’s performance last night, the early season anxiety has now turned to early season optimism. The impact and influence Kyogo is having is uncannily similar to when Henrik Larsson was in his prime at Celtic.”

Lewis Doyle, Tipperary, said: “Big Ange is doing a great job – what a difference between him and the last guy. When the transfer window closes we will see his new assistant manager appointed and John Kennedy move upstairs.

“Remember guys, you heard it here first. If you don't believe me look at the body language at pitchside.”

Paul McCormack, Coatbridge, said: “The save at 0-0 from Joe Hart lifted the stadium and set the tone for the night.

“Great night's work, and what can I say about Tony Ralston, what a transformation. He should have had man of the match for me.”

Ross Campbell emailed: “I’m really impressed with Celtic’s latest signing Tom Rogic. Where did he come from?

“He had an outstanding game on Sunday and this was repeated tonight, long may it continue.”

Iain Watson, Nairn, said: “Over the last few weeks I’ve seen so many journalists say that Anthony Ralston is 'gaining cult hero status' with the Celtic support, indicating that it’s probably temporary.

“What he’s gaining is a newfound respect from the Celtic support because of some excellent performances. It’s very clear he’s enjoying playing under Ange.”

But John Caw had a warning in his email, as he said: “Don’t know how Joe Hart feels but I am going to have heart failure with those two so-called central defenders Welsh and Starfelt. Never have I seen players who constantly put the ball back the way.”

Rangers fans are not so impressed though.

George Wilson, West Sussex, said: “Celtic are playing quite well in midfield and up front. But they haven’t played anyone yet. AZ Alkmaar showed their defence up and good quick players like Kent, Morelos, Roofe, Wright, Aribo and Hagi will tear their poor defence apart.”

Joe Smith, Coleraine, said: “Regular poster Gordon Ashley is smoking some funny stuff if he thinks Anthony Ralston is a better player than Nathan Patterson. Patterson has already played and scored in the Europa League.”

Meanwhile Stephen Johnstone, Ardentinny, said: “If Rangers fail to lift a cup, never mind the league, Gerrard will be shown the door. As it stands, the only cups I can see them lifting are the ones in the canteen.”
