Ange Postecoglou completes Celtic treble as he lands Glen's Premiership Manager of the Season gong

Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou has been named Glen's Scottish Premiership Manager of the Season, completing a clean sweep of awards.

The Aussie gaffer had already won the PFA Scotland and Scottish Football Writers' Association accolades, before landing a third form of recognition for leading his team to the cinch Premiership title in his first season at the helm.

The Hoops also lifted the Premier Sports Cup to end the season with a double after victory over Hibs late last year.

A statement from Colin Matthews, CEO of Glen's owner the Loch Lomond Group, said: "This has been a really significant first season in charge for Ange Postecoglou, where he has rebuilt the side and held off a strong challenge from Rangers to win the title and secure Champions League group stage football for Celtic next season.

"Celtic's form throughout the season has seen the manager pick up a series of our monthly awards and there is no doubt he is a worthy winner of the Scottish Premiership Glen's Manager of the Season award.

"My congratulations to Ange and his team for a superb season."

Meanwhile, Postecoglou has revealed he could have joined Greek outfit AEK Athens in a sliding doors moment just before Celtic came calling.

He said: “AEK was a possibility, almost at the same time as Celtic.

“It was a sliding doors moment. At that time of year, clubs are looking for managers and we got really close.

“They went another way and literally a day after that I got a call from Peter Lawwell.

“I then had a chat with Dermot Desmond and it was done within 24 hours.

“But that’s been my career as a manager. Things have just happened without me really seeking it.

“I have tried to do the best I can in the role I have and, by having success, opportunities come along.

“It was difficult to see myself on this side of the world.

“I had brief chats with people, but there was still no recognition of what I had achieved.

“It was going to take the stars to align for me to get an opportunity. It’s worked out and I couldn’t be happier.”
