Ange Postecoglou Celtic press conference in full as he makes 'too many' transfer admission after busy summer

Ange Postecoglou reckons Celtic may have added too many new faces in the transfer window after a hectic summer at Parkhead,

Giorgos Giakoumakis, Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers took the signing tally to 12 in Glasgow's east end on the last day of the window, with Odsonne Edouard and Ryan Christie leaving the club.

The Australian admits that he would have rather have kept a settled squad than the massive overhaul at Celtic Park.

However, he says he is now happy with his team as they look to bounce back from defeat to Rangers against Ross County.

Postecoglou said in his pre-match press conference: "It was hectic up until the final day, which we kind of expected. It was a busy period, but it had to be.

"It was pretty clear with a number of departures last year and during the window, even on the last day, so we had to bring in a few players.

"It's not as easy as selecting the ones you want and bringing them in, as we found. It was a bit of a challenge and every deal we did a lot of work went into it.

"We brought in 12 which I think is probably too many in one window to be fair, but we needed that.

"I'm pretty pleased with the outcome. We know the players we have got and that they are committed for the next period, and we can start working.

The manager also revealed James McCarthy and James Forrest were nearing full fitness again.

When asked if they were in line to feature against the Staggies, he said: "McCarthy yes.

"He's trained well this week and is available.

"James, probably not tomorrow. He is training, but we'll probably give him a few more days.

"They are just minor knocks the both of them.

"They are minor things, and to be fair both have had disrupted pre-seasons. We are just being a bit cautious with them, but certainly McCarthy is ready to go and James isn't far away."
