Ange Postecoglou can topple Rangers without Celtic signing spree as former boss makes bold title claim

John Barnes insists Celtic don’t need to do any January business to beat Rangers to the title.

The Hoops are six points behind their rivals and champions as the Scottish Premiership takes a winter break.

Ange Postecoglou struck early in the window with a Hogmanay hat-trick of J-League recruits.

He brought in Daizen Maeda, Yosuke Ideguchi and Reo Hatate and could still do more before the window closes.

But Parkhead flop boss Barnes reckons with the Premier Sports Cup in the bag, they are already strong enough to dethrone the Ibrox side.

The Liverpool and England legend told BonusCodeBets.co.uk : “Celtic don’t necessarily need to do anything in January to challenge Rangers.

“January is not the time to get players. Celtic are a few points behind Rangers, so they can win enough matches and by the end of the season they might have won the league.

“In terms of the long term future this window isn’t important at all, unless you can get players who are better than what you’ve already got.”
