Ange Postecoglou brushes off Leigh Griffiths as Celtic boss insists he hasn't given striker a single thought

Ange Postecoglou revealed he hasn't given Leigh Griffiths a single thought since he was sent home from Celtic's training camp.

The striker was cleared by Police Scotland on Wednesday following allegations he sent inappropriate messages to a teenage girl.

Griffiths departed Celtic's base in Wales after the claims surfaced last week but it's been ruled there was no criminality in his behaviour.

The 30-year-old was awarded a new deal at the club only two weeks ago.

Celtic now have nine days of work and three friendlies under their belt, with Postecoglou insisting Griffiths hasn't been on his mind at all.

The manager said: “You know how much time I have spent thinking about that? You’ve asked me and I’ve just thought about it.

“We’ll let it run its course and once it’s done and we get back up to Scotland then we’ll deal with it then.

“I’ve not spoken to him."

Celtic return to Scotland with a Champions League qualifier against Midtjylland rapidly approaching and their preparation continues against Preston North End on Saturday.

It's Postecoglou's first outing at Celtic Park, set to be played in front of 2000 fans, but the boss is facing a mounting injury list with Vasilis Barkas ruled out pre-match against the Robins and Mikey Johnston and Karamoko Dembele pulling up in-game.

And Postecoglou said: “It’s a challenge. We are trying to get them up and ready for an important game in a few days’ time.

“We had a solid session yesterday. Whether that contributed to the injuries today, I’m not really sure, but it was disappointing to get another couple of knocks that put them out of the game.

“It’s just something we have to deal with. Barkas dislocated his finger in the warm-up. I don’t think it’s anything serious.

“Mikey and Dembele, we will just have to see how they recover and what sort of diagnosis there is in the next 24 hours.

“Odsonne still hasn’t got out on the park yet. Kris has still got some issues. So I’ll just have to wait and see how they go in the next few days.

“I know it doesn’t sound much but six days is still a fair bit of time to do a few things.

“We are just going to concentrate the day-to-day proposition.”
