Ange Postecoglou blown away by Celtic support as he details 'motivation' for success

Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou admits he's been blown away by the support he's received from fans after joining the club.

The Australian knows he wasn't a well known figure when the club made their move to get him but he's been amazed by how Celtic supporters have reacted to his arrival.

He believes that it's partly down to Celtic fans refusing to give in to criticism of the appointment and having a siege mentality to back the former Australia manager.

They've impressed in the early stages of his managerial reign and are now into the final of the Premier Sports Cup, meaning Postecoglou could get his first trophy soon.

He told Open Goal: “I have been so humbled by the Celtic fans’ acceptance of me almost straight away.

"Let’s be honest, no one knew who I was before I got here, people had to Google my name to see who I was.

“Maybe it is because Celtic supporters don’t like being told who they should and shouldn’t like, it almost got their back up when people said, ‘Who is this guy’.

“They backed me from day one and that’s been great and it’s a massive motivator for me to bring success to this football club.

“When they back you when they don’t know who you are, if you can bring success to those people who supported you, that feeling will be priceless.

“This club needs success and silverware and that’s why I am here, to bring trophies. Whether I do that time will tell."
