Ange Postcoglou in defiant Celtic reminder as he explains why 'kicking it long' will never be for him

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou hailed his brilliant front-three as he denied a 3-2 win at Ferencvaros was nervy.

The Parkhead club were involved in a typically end-to-end Europa League contest as all three of Kyogo Furuhashi, Jota and Liel Abada got on the scoresheet.

The win means Celtic can still finish second in their group as they lie one point behind Real Betis, while European football is guaranteed after Christmas with the Conference League safety net.

Postecoglou's side have scored eight and condeded 10 in their four group games so far, but the manager will not be looking to a more pragmatic style.

He told BT Sport: "We scored three great goals and could have had a couple more.

"We're disappointed with conceding the second one because I don't think it was a true reflection of how we played tonight, so full credit to the players.

"They (the front three) were great tonight.

"We set a platform for them, we can't discount the fact that our ability to play out from the back gives them good opportunities, rather than just knocking it long.

"They work awfully hard for the team in a defensive sense and, as I've always said to them, they'll get the rewards.

"It's great for all three to get goals tonight, and three quality goals too."

And while a late Ferencvaros goal left fans sweating on the result, the manager insists that he wasn't overly concerned.

Postecoglou continued: "I don't think it was nervy, like I said it's disappointing to concede the second goal but the fact we can get three goals away from home is because we just go at teams.

"I still think that's the way forward for us, it's the kind of team we want to be and I think it's the kind of team our supporters want us to be."
