Ange heading to Hall of Fame as Celtic boss awarded ultimate Australia accolade

Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou has been inducted into the Australian FA's Hall of Fame ahead of his return to his homeland later this month.

The Hoops boss will bring his squad Down Under for the Sydney Super Cup and will also host two theatre shows in Sydney and Melbourne during his return home. And Football Australia has honoured him ahead of the visit by introducing him into their Hall of Fame. Football Australia chairman Chris Nikou said: "Our Hall of Fame is the highest honour bestowed upon players and participants who have served the game – either on or off the field – with distinction."

Postecoglou was capped by Australia before leading South Melbourne to championships as a captain and then manager. He led the Socceroos at the 2014 World Cup and claimed Australia’s first men’s Asian Cup on home soil in 2015 before winning titles in Japan with Yokohama F. Marinos and last year with Celtic. He was nominated via a public process, with the nominees then considered by a panel of Australian football historians, who provided their recommendations the Football Australia board.
