Ange and the 'really telling' Celtic exit unease as scattergun Tottenham search sparks theory to calm Parkhead panic

Confident Andy Walker reckons Ange Postecoglou will knock back Tottenham as the Premier League side's search for a new boss rumbles on.

Reports in England suggest the Celtic boss is a 'main candidate' for the vacant role at Spurs after Daniel Levy was snubbed by Feyenoord boss Arne Slot - the latest in a long line of potential bosses to knock back the role. Reports suggest the Australian is well in the running after the Dutch coach raised concern about the model employed by chief Levy in North London.

It was believed Spurs were keeping Postecoglou a live option and 'strongly considering' him with Sporting's Ruben Amorim also said to be a candidate. Former Parkhead boss Brendan Rodgers is also linked - but Walker reckons that all manager's will be considering knocking back any offer from Spurs amid the drawn out search for a gaffer. He reckons the Australian will pause to look at the "really telling" knock-backs from his peers - noting his surprise that Eredivise winner Slot would turn down the chance to leave Dutch football behind.

The former Celtic Park striker moved to calm any nerves over a potential exit - insisting he wouldn't leave the Premiership for problems in the Premier League. Bemused Walker told The Go Radio Football Show: "I just think it's really telling that everyone seems to be knocking back this Spurs job. Why would that be? It's such a big club.

"They have got arguably the best stadium in Europe and there is a bit of money to spend. I don't know what the story is with Harry Kane but obviously he is your star player and you want him to remain and score goals.

"Why is a manager from Dutch football turning down Tottenham? There must be something going on in the background. Maybe it's the way the club is run, maybe it's the conditions that the manager is put under. So, with everyone knocking it back I can understand big managers like Ange Postecoglou and Brendan Rodgers thinking 'hang on a minute, there is something not right. I'll just hang fire for a while'."
