Anfield has long-awaited new addition for Liverpool's next home game against Aston Villa

Sunday afternoon will see Liverpool's first match back at Anfield since the Reds were crowned Premier League champions.

It promises to be a special occasion albeit a slightly bittersweet one with no supporters allowed into the ground due to the continuing restrictions imposed because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The first home match following the restart against Crystal Palace last week saw the stadium adorned with numerous flags and banners curated by fans group Spion Kop 1906, long-standing flag-creator Peter Carney and others.

And now with the club's long 30-year wait for a league title at an end following Manchester City's defeat to Chelsea last Thursday, the in-ground decorations have been updated to reflect recent events.

Spion Kop 1906 posted on their Twitter feed on Wednesday evening a new series of flags along the Sir Kenny Dalglish stand and on the Kop which read simply "LIVERPOOL FC CHAMPIONS AGAIN".

Liverpool still have three home matches still to play against Aston Villa on Sunday, Burnley on Saturday 11 July and Chelsea, with the date of the final match yet to be confirmed due to the Londoners' involvement in the FA Cup semi finals.
