Anfield expansion, Premier League plans and where Jurgen Klopp fits among Reds greats

The latest Blood Red podcast is here as Guy Clarke, Paul Gorst, Ian Doyle and Theo Squires talk through the latest goings-on at Liverpool.

The club remains committed to expanding Anfield by a further 7,000 seats, but will now have to do so a year later than first planned after the coronavirus outbreak.

Liverpool's move to Kirkby from their Melwood training ground will take place ahead of pre-season this summer and remains unaffected.

Meanwhile, the Premier League have begun to make plans for the remainder of this campaign taking place, albeit behind closed doors.

Teams are believed to have been briefed about proposals for hotels once the season resumes, with players needing to be kept safe from spreading the virus.

It is thought that squads could be based in hotels, which would then be deep cleaned once the players had departed.

The plans, though, will likely need government approval and may hinge on the current social distancing laws being relaxed.

The possibility of playing matches at Wembley, with all teams training at St George's Park, has also been discussed, with a number of options remaining on the table.

When Liverpool do eventually win the league title, manager Jurgen Klopp will once again be spoken about in the same terms that the likes of Bill Shankly, Bob Paisley and Kenny Dalglish.

The podcast concludes with a discussion about where the German should rank among those names after guiding the Reds to a sixth European Cup and a first Premier League title.
