Anfield expansion: Liverpool to take major step forward next week with Anfield Road capacity

Liverpool will take the first major step towards the next stage of Anfield’s redevelopment when a fresh public consultation begins next week.

The Reds are set to deliver 5,000 leaflets to local residents and businesses inviting them to view proposed plans for redevelopment of the Anfield Road end of the ground.

Outline planning permission that would have seen an extra 4,000 seats added to the stadium’s smallest stand was allowed to expire in September.

That is because club chiefs had decided that more ambitious plans taking overall capacity beyond 60,000 were required.

The road towards that aim being realised begins with three consultation events at Anfield, which will take place on November 29, December 2 and December 3.

A pop-up information stand will also be opened on Anfield Road ahead of Liverpool’s home fixtures against Brighton and Everton.

In line with these events, an online hub will be opened allowing supporters to offer their feedback on the plans.

Should the consultation period go according to plan, then the next stage for Reds chiefs will be to use the public’s comments as part of a fresh planning application.
