Andy Whyment trolled by Corrie co-star for 'looking like E.T.' in topless pic

Coronation Street actor Andy Whyment decided to 'out' co-star Alan Halsall after he cruelly trolled him over a topless pic.

Alan, who plays Tyrone Dobbs on the ITV soap, compared Andy, who plays Kirk Sutherland, to classic movie character E.T. after seeing a photo of him soaking up the sun in his garden.

Luckily, former I'm A Celeb star Andy saw the funny side but still decided to expose Alan on Instagram.

Sharing the side-by-side comparison he wrote: "When @alanhalsall sends you this and says twins he's absolutely hammered me there.

"It's a good job we've known each other for 30 years and I love him ❤️ x" he added.

Alan, who is rumoured to be following Andy into the I'm A Celebrity jungle this year, shared the pics on his own page and wrote: "Love ya too brother."

The Corrie actors have a lot of time on their hands lately since filming suspended on the soap stopped back in March in a bid to protect the stars from the spread of the coronavirus.

Maureen Lipman, who plays Evelyn Plummer, revealed in an interview this week her fears she made have spread the illness after coming down with symptoms earlier in the year.

The award-winning actress said had a persistent cough, fatigue and sweats but continued on with filming.

Speaking to The Lady magazine, the actress said: "I believe myself to have had a mild form of coronavirus masquerading as a fortnight's persistent cough, with attached fatigue and sweats.

"If I did have it, then I flung my viral breath cheerfully around the Coronation Street corner shop at anyone who popped in for a bag of crisps and a confrontation."

After filming stopped, the popular soap has been airing for just three nights a week as bosses were forced to ration out episodes.

Last week, it was reported Coronation Street and Emmerdale are making preparations to start filming new episodes as early as June.

According to Mail Online, discussions were being had about how the soaps could maintain social distancing and were looking at having few crew members on set and running storylines with fewer characters.

ITV said the health and safety of staff were of the 'highest priority.'

A spokesperson said: "The health and well-being of our people and those who work with us has always been our highest priority and remains so as we look to restart production.

We are in the final stages of working with others across the industry on a return-to-production protocol and we are in active discussions with Government on this. We will share more news in due course."

The UK went into lockdown in March with Boris Johnson announcing guidelines this month on how to ease people out.
