Andy Whyment's wife says the Corrie star is 'living his best life' on I'm A Celebrity

Andy Whyment's proud wife says the Coronation Street star is 'living his best life' after swapping the famous cobbles for the jungle.

Andy, who plays Kirk Sutherland in Corrie, is currently favourite to win I'm A Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here! - and his wife Nichola says he's genuinely excited to be there.

The soap favourite has won an army of fans since arriving as a latecomer to the jungle last week.

Speaking with OK! magazine Nichola said: "Andy is living his best life in the jungle! I think he just showed everyone how excited he is to be there. I've not seen him laugh that much in so long.

"I hope he doesn't struggle too much in the jail camp as he loves his food and sleep."

Andy has played factory worker Kirk in Corrie for almost 20 years and has two children Thomas, 11, and Hollie, nine.

Andy had fans laughing the moment he arrived with fellow latecomer Cliff Parisi, who is best known as Minty Peterson in EastEnders, to battle a Bushtucker trial called Frontier of Fear.

Dressed in cowboy attire, they headed to Ol’ Dingo Town as ‘jungle outlaws’ in a bid to win gold stars for the main camp before heading to the jungle jailhouse.

Corrie fans were likely amused by Andy’s Kirk-isms as he offered a running commentary during the challenge.

One viewer said: “Andy Whyment has only been in the jungle 5 minutes and he has already made me laugh way more than anyone else has in the past 5 days. The hero we didn't know we needed.”

Another said: “The new celebrities only been on the show about twenty five minutes, and Andy Whyment has fast become my new favourite to win this year. Please, people, let's just vote him to do every trial because that was hysterical."
