Coronation Street actor Bill Roache has said that his co-star Andy Whyment will surprise I'm A Celebrity fans and that his personality is a world away from his soap character's.
Andy plays dim but lovable Kirk on the cobbles, but is taking a break from the soap to jet off Down Under.
The actor is currently taking part in the 19th series of I'm A Celeb and is already favourite to win, despite being a late arrival with Cliff Parisi.
Speaking about his colleague on Lorraine today, Bill, who plays Ken Barlow, insisted that Andy was a "really bright, really sweet guy".
Asked whether he thought that it was strange seeing Andy in the jungle, Bill said: "I think Andy will surprise people, you know.
"His character he plays is a very nice, lovable character. Andy is actually a very bright guy.
"He's going to surprise a lot of people, he's a lovely man."
Bill also addressed soap fans' fears that his character Ken was dying after 60 years on the street.
Viewers worried when they spotted Ken coughing before landing in hospital.
However Bill reassured Lorraine that Ken wasn't dying from a secret illness and that he just had a cold.
