Andy Walker blasts Celtic 'third rate' decision making as he pinpoints key issue Dominic McKay must solve

Frustrated Andy Walker has blasted the "third rate" decision making in Celtic 's management and called on Dominic McKay to move quickly in appointing key football figures.

The former Scottish Rugby man will begin his work on Monday after completing his notice period and will assist current CEO Peter Lawwell in rebuilding for next season.

And Walker reckons his arrival is not a moment too soon after a season of dire results that has seen them lose out on their 10 In A Row dream, crash out of the Champions League in qualifiers and fail to lay a glove on rivals Rangers in four attempts.

Asked if the 2-0 Scottish Cup defeat on Sunday was a microcosm of the season as a whole he told Sky: "I think you are right.

"The result was entirely predictable. Rangers had all the best players in Patterson, Aribo, Kent, Davis. They were all on top form and Celtic couldn't cope.

"Rangers are used to European competition and they soaked up a bit of pressure.

"I thought it was interesting to see Dominic McKay there. I think that tells you that change is on its way.

"It has to happen as quickly as possible. Every Celtic supporter has been left in the lurch after this supposed January review.

"We have seen some third rate decision making over the last couple of seasons and that's what McKay has to address.

"There's been a managed decline here and he has to get on top of it.

"The sooner he gets involved in appointing a new head coach, manager or director of football the better."
