Andy's Man Club suicide awareness bus in Perth stop-off

Andy’s Man Club will be out and about in Perth this weekend to mark World Suicide Prevention Day.

The club, which aims to prevent male suicides by offering talking groups for men, will be on Tay Street on Sunday, September 8 from 12.30pm until 1pm.

This is part of the national charity’s tour of the UK this weekend, which will stop off in towns and cities across the country to raise awareness of male suicide.

When the bus tour stops off in Perth, they will be joined by Alex McClintock and Adam Allison, who set up the Perth branch of Andy’s Man Club.

During the bus tour’s visit on Sunday, volunteers will be handing out goodie bags, leaflets and wristbands to raise awareness of their group.

It is hoped they can attract as many men who are feeling suicidal as possible to join them on Monday evenings.

A spokesperson for Andy’s Man Club said: “They will be travelling the country with trustees, who are also guys who have walked through the door and turned their life around. We will be spending time in each of the town centres of their locations. We will be handing out goodie bags, 60,000 leaflets, thousands of wristbands and having conversations on the streets with the aim of raising awareness of our groups.

“We know the groups are working, saving and changing lives with record numbers of men attending every week. Men are talking.”

All men are welcome to join Andy’s Man Club, which meets at McDiarmid Park every Monday at 7pm.
