Andy Ruiz Jr shows off novelty belt after Anthony Joshua victory

Andy Ruiz Jr has made no secret of his love for Snickers following his stunning triumph over Anthony Joshua - so much so that he has been presented with a new novelty heavyweight belt.

Joshua suffered a shock first defeat of his career when he was stopped by Ruiz Jr in the seventh round at Madison Square Garden in New York this month.

The British boxer was on the receiving end of one of the biggest shocks in the history of heavyweight boxing on his United States debut.

He was knocked down twice in the third round and twice more in the seventh, forcing referee Mike Griffin to stop the contest.

Mexican fighter Ruiz has now returned home to celebrate his stunning triumph and was seen with a Snickers-emblazoned belt.

Seen at an airport, he wrote on Instagram : "The @snickers heavyweight champion of the world has arrived in Mexico."

On Twitter , Ruiz Jr regularly tags Snickers in his social media posts and at one stage even made his header photo a picture of the popular chocolate bar.

When asked about his love for the bar, he once said: "My dad would always give me a Snickers before a fight.

"It gives me energy. It gives me everything I need to get the win."

Meanwhile Joshua's British rival Tyson Fury recently mocked Ruiz Jr and his love for snickers when discussing the shock victory.

"Anthony Joshua will never live it down," Fury told ESPN radio.

"Can you imagine? You're built like an Adonis, you’re six-foot-six, you’re ripped, carved in stone, and a little fat man who has eaten every Snickers and Mars bar in California comes in there and bladders you all over? What a disgrace.

"If that was me, I would never show my face in public ever again."
