Andy Ruiz Jr has revealed his family won $21,000 by betting on him to beat Anthony Joshua.
The heavy underdog was 20-1 to dethrone the world champion and he duly obliged by dropping Joshua four times on his way to a seventh-round stoppage.
Ruiz pocketed £5million from his victory and will double that when he faces Joshua in the rematch later this year.
And his family also profited from his stunning upset.
"Everyone who bet on me has made a fortune," Ruiz told the Bill Simmons podcast . "My whole family bet on me, I wanted a bet but I didn't want to jinx it.
"Of course I was confident I was going to win, but I didn't want to put money on it.
"My parents won like $10,000 each, my little brother won $7,000.
"Maybe I should have done that too."
Ruiz had lost just once before last weekend, in his previous world title challenge against Joseph Parker in 2016.
He was given little change against Joshua but dropped the Brit twice in the third round and twice more in the seventh.
Now the Mexican American claims he will demand £40m to rematch the 2012 Olympic champion in the UK.
"Right now my team, they’re negotiating everything right now. I’ve just got to stay busy, stay healthy and be ready for the rematch," he told Fight Hub .
"I'd love it to be here in the United States or in Mexico you know. It all depends on the team and what they negotiate.
"If they want me to go over there, they’ve got to give me $50million. If they want to come over here… It’s just negotiations you know."
