Andy Ruiz Jr explains what he will do differently ahead of Anthony Joshua rematch

Andy Ruiz Jr says he will opt for a "more intense" training camp ahead of his rematch with Anthony Joshua.

Ruiz stunned Joshua on short notice as a late replacement for Jarrell Miller at Madison Square Garden on June 1 to become Mexico's first heavyweight world champion.

He has confirmed a rematch will definitely happen in December - and he is out to prove his first shock win was not a fluke.

Ruiz, who fought Alexander Dimitrenko just 40 days before beating Joshua, is planning a trip back to Mexico to prepare for his second fight with the British superstar in low-key fashion with some subtle differences in his camp.

“What’s going to be next is the rematch between me and Anthony Joshua. We’re still negotiating, but there’s definitely going to be the rematch this year: exciting fight,” Ruiz said in an interview with Joe Rogan .

“It’s going to be in December, sometime in December. It’s going to come out pretty soon.

“I think what we’re gonna do, we’re getting a big house in Mexico, somewhere in the nowhere.

"We’re gonna have a closed camp. We’re just gonna be really focused for this fight.

"We’re not underestimating him. We just got to work hard and do it again. Show people what I’m capable off.

“I don’t think we’re going to be changing too much stuff.

“The plan was not to lose too much weight, he’s really big.

"I wanted to be heavy so I could carry his weight. I might do a little bit more weights to tighten up a little bit.

"As long as there’s training, we have the good sparring. Just exactly what we did for the last fight, just more intense.”
