Tardelli blasts 'arrogant' Reds

Italian football legend Marco Tardelli has made a scathing assessment of Jurgen Klopp’s ‘arrogant’ Liverpool team ahead of the upcoming Champions League last-16 clash with Inter Milan.

The Reds were drawn against the Serie A side at the second attempt after an initial botched draw saw them paired with RB Salzburg, the matches will be played on February 16 at the San Siro and March 8 at Anfield.

Liverpool finished top of their Champions League group, winning all six of their games. Whilst many were impressed with the way in which Reds breezed through the group stage, Tardelli noticed some weaknesses.

Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Football Italia), the former Inter star suggested the Reds can be got at and referenced what he believed to be overly aggressive tactics in Sunday's 2-2 draw with Tottenham.

"The fouls that Liverpool players did against Tottenham yesterday, they’d have received a 10-match ban…Besides, Liverpool are almost arrogant in the way they play, all too aware of how strong they are and the protection that they enjoy."

CAF president insists AFCON will go ahead

The Confederation of African Football president Patrice Motsepe has put rumours over the Africa Cup of Nations being postponed ‘to bed’ with a recent statement.

Reports emerged last week that the tournament which is due to start in January was under threat of being postponed due to the increasing number of Covid cases worldwide.

The rearranged tournament is due to start in Cameroon in less than three weeks and Motsepe insists that it will go ahead.

“I will be in Cameroon for the Africa Cup of Nations on January 7th," he said in an interview with a Cameroon news channel on Monday.

Liverpool will lose their key trio of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Naby Keita for the tournament
