Andy Robertson takes cheeky swipe at Liverpool club legend Kenny Dalglish over book

Andy Robertson took a cheeky swipe at Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish over the launch of his new book.

The full-back has got back to his best form, helping the Premier League champions to an unbeaten start from two games in their title defence.

But he has also been getting started in book publication with the released of his autobiography “Robbo: Now You’re Gunna Believe Us”, available here.

Several people connected to Anfield, including manager Jurgen Klopp, have praised the Scot for his new book.

Another one to receive a copy was Dalglish, who won six First Division titles at Anfield and handed the 2019/20 champions the trophy.

But the 69-year-old had a hilarious review that he posted on Twitter, writing: “Robbo, thanks for the book.

“I am sure it will be a great sedative.”

Robertson, though, had a brilliant response of his own.

The Scot shared a photo of a coffee table at his house, with Dalglish’s own autobiography holding up one of the corners.

And he wrote: “Sir Kenny has always been such a great support.”

Robertson is into his fourth season at Anfield, helping the Reds to the title last season by grabbing 12 assists.

The title charge formed the focus of the defender’s book – and he recalled the moment when he believed the trophy had been won.

“I was in the canteen a couple of days beforehand and a few of us were talking about what the atmosphere was going to be like," he wrote.

“I shouted over to (head of club and supporter engagement) Tony Barrett to see what he thought and he said if we won it would definitely be the day when ‘And Now You’re Gonna Believe Us’ erupted at Anfield.

“I didn’t like that. ‘It’s too early for that,’ I said. ‘They need to wait until it’s almost in the bag. That’s the time, not mid-January’.

“I got the enthusiasm and, if I was a fan, my mindset would have been exactly the same. But as a player, all I could focus on was the need to keep things ticking over without getting too excited.

“I also knew that, in some quarters, the song could be used as a stick to beat the club with the moment we suffered any kind of setback.

“As it had happened previously and I didn’t want it to happen again."
