Andy Robertson reveals Sadio Mane 'bust-up' in Liverpool dressing room during Premier League clash

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has revealed how Andy Robertson and Sadio Mane had a half-time dressing 'bust up' in one of the key matches during last season's title charge.

Just a week before the Reds took on champions Manchester City at Anfield in November, Klopp's men travelled to the Midlands to take on newly promoted Aston Villa at Villa Park.

A goal down at half time, Liverpool faced the prospect of Pep Guardiola's side knocking them off the top of the Premier League the following weekend if they won at Anfield but two very late goals from Robertson and Mane maintained the Reds' six point lead, which was extended to nine when City were well beaten 3-1 in L4 the following Sunday.

With Liverpool going on to win the championship ahead of City by a whopping 18-point margin, it was a pivotal eight days in the title race.

Now, both Klopp and Robertson have revealed the two goalscorers were involved in a dressing room disagreement that early November day in Birmingham.

Taking part in a video 'On this day' quiz for BT Sport ahead of the broadcaster's coverage of Saturday's FA Community Shield between Liverpool and Arsenal at Wembley, one of the dates featured was 2 November 2019 which, when prompted by Robertson, Klopp correctly identified as the day of the crucial game at Villa Park.

"Want to talk about half time?", Klopp asked Robertson at which they both laugh uproariously.

"The first time me and Sadio ended up falling out", recalled the full back.

Klopp continued, "At half time, nobody could have thought these two players would end up deciding the game."

Robertson replied "We should maybe try it more often if it gets me some more goals!"
