Andy Robertson has insisted Liverpool won’t be a one-trophy wonder.
Fans are still reveling in the glorious Champions’ League triumph which ended Jurgen Klopp’s final hoodoo, but their iconic full back explained that memory has already been banished at Anfield.
And instead, he explained the focus is now firmly on bringing more honours to the club - which he is adamant the Reds can deliver, despite a quiet summer in the transfer market.
Asked when the glory of the final in Madrid will fade, he replied: “The day we came back it wore off for us.
"We had to do our American tour, and our owners wanted to do some things with the cup which was great, but for us the first day we came back it’s really forgotten about until we retire.
“Honestly, the focus now needs to be on winning more trophies, because that Champions League is now in the past.”
Liverpool of course, must overcome the financial might of Manchester City to win the Premier League, after coming so agonisingly close last season.
And Robertson revealed the steely focus that this Liverpool team possesses, when he explained that everyone at the club is looking forward, not back at the glorious night on June 1 in Spain.
“We don’t want to be the team that only won one trophy - of course it’s a big one, but we want to be a team that wins a host of trophies.
‘We are a long way off that, but we need to kick on this season and get another one under our belts. That’s the aim.”
