Andy Robertson has lifted the lid on the changes in his game that enabled him to bounce back from his individual error to help Liverpool to a 3-1 win over Arsenal.
On 25 minutes the left-back skewed a clearance straight into the path of Alexandre Lacazette who opened the scoring but with Sadio Mane equalising three minutes later, Robertson then fired the Reds in front on 34 minutes.
Speaking on his first half display that saw him go from villain to hero, Robertson said: “It was a mixed bag, that’s fair to say. Usually I’m quite happy walking in at half-time with an assist and a goal but not this time.
“For their goal I thought Virg was going to clear it but these things happen unfortunately.
“Ninety-nine times out of a hundred I’d probably clear it but unfortunately that happened. Luckily it doesn’t happen too many times.
“Maybe a couple of years ago I’d have let that get to my performance and dwelled on it but I think I showed that I moved on from it quite quickly.
“We were the better team up to that point and we showed great character to get in front so quickly.
“I think we dominated the game, I think we deserved the result, nobody can argue that but it’s never good to go behind.
“It’s my fault, I’ll hold my hands up but the reaction was very good from all of us.”
Robertson was delighted to keep up Liverpool’s unbeaten home record in the Premier League that stretches back to April 23, 2017 when they lost 3-2 to Sam Allardyce’s Crystal Palace.
He said: “We knew it was going to be a tough test with both of us having 100% records going into this game and they’d got the beating of us the last two times.
“We wanted the three points. Nobody comes here and gets it easy.
“We’re now 61 Premier League games unbeaten (at home). Not all of them have gone swimmingly with us two or three nil up.
“We’ve come from behind before and hopefully we’ll do it again.
“There was still a long time to go. We’d started the game really well, creating chances so we didn’t let it affect us and that’s the sign of a good team.
“We showed that and once we got in front I don’t think we gave them many chances.”
