Andy Robertson inspires Virgil van Dijk Celtic throwback as Liverpool defender rolls out his Parkhead specialty

He's forged a reputation as perhaps the world's best defender but, as Celtic fans can attest, there's more to Virgil van Dijk's game.

The Dutchman had an eye for a set-piece stunner during his stint in Glasgow but it's not a skill he gets to show off much these days.

At Liverpool, the likes of Sadio Mane, Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino and a host of others queue up ahead of the centre-back.

One man who appears not to have forgotten, however, is Andy Robertson.

The Scotland captain egged van Dijk on at Reds' training this week and the big defender didn't disappoint.

As Robertson urged him to pick out the top corner "just like your Celtic days", van Dijk duly obliged.

He stepped up and curled the ball into the top corner before charging off into the dressing room in celebration.

It conjured memories of van Dijk blasting past many a Scottish Premiership keeper into the top right corner.

You can watch his free-kick via the video above.
