Andy Robertson has handed Liverpool a major injury scare after limping out of Sunday’s friendly against Athletic Bilbao.
Robertson appeared to twist his right ankle as he attempted to block a cross from Athletic winger Alex Berenguer shortly before half-time.
The Scotland international instantly dropped to the turf and required lengthy treatment in front of the Kop.
A stretcher was brought on but Robertson was able to walk slowly from the pitch with the assistance of two members of the Liverpool backroom staff, with a worried 40,000-crowd at Anfield giving the defender a generous round of applause.

With Kostas Tsimikas being held back for Monday evening’s Anfield friendly against Osasuna, teenager Owen Beck replaced Robertson.
Liverpool now face an anxious wait to discover if there is any serious damage for Robertson, who appeared in every Premier League game last season.
The Reds begin the new campaign at newly-promoted Norwich City on Saturday evening.
