Liverpool full-back Andy Robertson looks likely to miss the start of the Premier League season after he was forced off with an ankle injury in Sunday's friendly against Athletic Bilbao at Anfield.
Robertson rolled over on his ankle as he blocked a cross shortly before the end of the first half, and he had to be helped off the pitch by medics.
He was replaced by young full-back Owen Beck, with Jurgen Klopp later confirming that he will undergo a scan on Monday.
"We don't know in this moment how serious it is," said Klopp.
"He twisted his ankle. The pain settled already but further assessments tomorrow with a scan. Then we will know more."
Robertson was playing in just his second pre-season friendly of the summer having returned from captaining Scotland at Euro 2020, with the Reds leading 1-0 at the time of his injury through a Diogo Jota goal.
They ended up drawing the match 1-1.
As well as teenager Beck - who is the great-nephew of Liverpool legend Ian Rush - the Scot's understudy at Anfield is the Greek international left-back Kostas Tsimikas, who was barely seen during his first Anfield season in 2020-21.
Tsimikas was not involved in the matchday squad against Bilbao, meaning he is likely to face fellow La Liga side Osasuna in Monday night's Anfield friendly.
Should Robertson be injured for the Premier League opener at Norwich City on Saturday then Tsimikas will be in line for his first league start for the Reds.

Liverpool named a strong starting XI for the match against Bilbao as they played in front of an almost capacity crowd at Anfield for the first time since March 2020.
Virgil van Dijk stepped up his fitness with a start at centre-back, with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane joining Jota in attack.
The match had to be delayed by half an hour following problems with a new ticketing access procedure at Anfield, with thousands of fans still outside the ground at the scheduled 4pm kick-off time.
Liverpool said in a statement: "We understand how frustrating this has been for our supporters, who have been looking forward to getting back into Anfield.
"We will be doing a full debrief of today’s entry process to identify why the system was slower than expected and will endeavour to ensure such issues are addressed ahead of Monday night’s match against Osasuna.
"As part of this we will communicate any changes impacting fans, along with additional guidance, for this next friendly fixture in due course.
"We thank supporters for their patience and understanding."
