Andy Robertson elbow linesman suspended indefinitely as PGMOL take action after Liverpool incident

PGMOL have indefinitely suspended linesman Constantine Hatzidakis after he was caught on camera seeming to elbow Andy Robertson.

The Liverpool defender was left "apoplectic" after an incident at half-time in their draw with Arsenal saw him approach the official only for him to turn round and catch him in the face with his elbow. Robertson claimed he'd been "elbowed in the throat" and replays from multiple angles looked damning on the Greek linesman.

PGMOL, who officiate the referees across the English Premier League and EFL, announced during the game that there would be an investigation once the game had concluded. And they have now announced that Hatzidakis will not be involved in any games while the FA looks into the flashpoint. A statement reads: “PGMOL will not be appointing Constantine Hatzidakis to fixtures in any of the competition it serves whilst The FA investigates the incident involving the assistant referee and Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson at Anfield.”
