Andy Robertson admits Liverpool transfer target "ripped him apart" in game

Andy Robertson admits one-time Liverpool transfer target Adama Traore "ripped me apart" at Molineux this season.

Robertson is widely considered one of the best left backs in world football, but the defender was run-ragged by Traore in Liverpool's 2-1 win over Wolves.

According to the Scot, Traore is one of only two players who have managed to get the better of him throughout a match, with the other being Eden Hazard.

When asked to name his toughest opponent, Robertson told That Peter Crouch Podcast, BBC Radio 5 Live & BBC Sounds: "When I was at Hull I played against Hazard. He ripped me apart at Stamford Bridge.

"Traore this season ripped me apart, to be fair."

Jurgen Klopp was full of praise for Traore following his side's victory, sparking speculation he was ready to snap up the former Barcelona man.

"[Traore] is unplayable in moments, it's unbelievable," said the Liverpool boss. "What a player – it's not only him but he's so good."

On the match, Traore added: "The team did well today. We worked hard throughout the game. [We are] sad we didn't get the win or the draw, but we have to keep pushing, working and taking the positive things, fight to the end.

"[Nuno Espirito Santo] said we have to keep going, not concede, keep pushing, keep fighting for each ball. So that's what we did. We went 100 per cent.

"Me and Raul Jimenez had different roles today. We worked so hard today. [We are] disappointed not to take points but we take the experience.

"We don't forget they are a great team, an amazing team and one of the best - or the best in Europe. Congratulations to them, how they are going in the league, but we fight. We will fight to the end."
