Andy Robertson admits he 'would love' to play for Celtic but not when he's 'passed his best'

Scotland captain Andy Robertson has admitted he'd love to play for Celtic one day - but insists he won't turn out for the Hoops when he's passed his best.

The Liverpool left-back is regarded by many as one of the best players in Europe in his position after helping the Reds win both the Champions League and the Premier League in the last two years.

The 27-year-old former Dundee United and Queens Park defender still has three years remaining on his deal at Anfield, and whilst he's in no rush to leave Jurgen Klopp's side, he has conceded joining his boyhood heroes at Parkhead would be an opportunity that he'd struggle to turn down.

While speaking to PLZ Soccer, he admitted that if he does not end up retiring at Liverpool, he would love to pull on the iconic green and white jersey one day: “My aim is to finish my career at Liverpool but I know how tough it is to stay at the highest level.

“I would love to play for Celtic.

“When I was a young boy growing up I used to say I’d give my best years to Celtic so I don’t want to go there when I’m old and maybe can’t move as much.

“The time will come to make that decision but I have a good length of time left on my Liverpool contract.

“I hope to stay and retire at the club and if I keep going and I feel fit and healthy I’d love to do that.

“But if not I’d look at options and I’d love to pull on the Celtic shirt, of course I would.”

With his current terms expiring when he'll be just 30, could Robertson rock up in Glasgow for a career swan-song with his favourite team? Only time will tell.
