Andy Murray WILL play Wimbledon as Scot announces he'll compete in doubles months after fears he was finished

Andy Murray has announced he will play doubles at Wimbledon just months after the Scot feared his career was over.

The three-time Grand Slam champion returned to the court on Thursday evening at Queen's Club, partnering Feliciano Lopez to victory over top seeds Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah.

The pair secured a straight sets 7-6 (5) 6-3 win as the five-time Queen's champion delighted the Centre Court crowd.

And the Dunblane-born star has now confirmed he will team up with Pierre-Hugues Herbert at SW19.

Murray looked set to call time on his career earlier this year when he announced at January's Australian Open that it might be his last tournament.

He'd been dogged by a chronic hip injury that looked to have ended his ability to compete the top level, during which he'd won the US Open and two Wimbledon crowns.

But surgery on his problem hip appears to have solved the problem and Murray has been practising pain free for weeks now.

"It was brilliant, I enjoyed it a lot," Murray told the BBC. "I was a bit slow at the beginning but got better as the match went along.

"I'm really fortunate to be playing tennis again. I absolutely love playing on this court, it's a brilliant place to play.

"I felt quite relaxed in the build-up, but we said as we were walking on to the court that we were starting to feel a bit nervous. But you need those butterflies."
