Andy Murray to team up with Ivan Lendl for a third stint with coach

Andy Murray is set to renew his relationship with Ivan Lendl, with the eight-time Grand Slam winner set to coach the former world No1 for a third time.

The pair’s partnership, which produced three Grand Slam titles and two Olympic gold medals, ended back in 2017.

But Murray’s ongoing quest for a new coach since Jamie Delgado teamed up with Denis Shapovalov has ended with a return to the 61-year-old Czech.

Lendl is set to take over coaching duties in the wake of next week’s tournament in Indian Wells on what has been described by the Britain’s team as an “extended training block” in a bid to get ready for the grass court season.

Murray is still on the lookout for a further coach to travel with him to events and work closely with Lendl.

Lendl helped Murray break his Grand Slam duck at the 2012 US Open and also coached the three-time Grand Slam champion when he won Wimbledon for the first time in 2013.

The pair split in 2014 before reuniting in 2016, which paved the way for Murray’s second Wimbledon title as well as the successful defence of the Olympic title he had won at London 2012.
