Andy Murray to team up with brother Jamie for Citi Open doubles as he continues injury comeback

Andy Murray will step up his competitive return from hip surgery when he joins forces with brother Jamie in the doubles at next week’s Citi Open in Washington.

It will be the younger Murray brother’s fourth tournament since having a new metal hip inserted in January.

He made a triumphant return with Feliciano Lopez by winning the men’s doubles at Queen’s in June.

Early exits followed at both Eastbourne and Wimbledon in the men’s doubles, and he was one half of a high-profile pairing with Serena Williams in the mixed event at SW19.

Now Murray has agreed a one-off partnership with doubles specialist Jamie, after the Citi Open’s new owners unveiled plans to give doubles a high billing this year.

His latest foray is part of a wider plan to see if he can return to competitive singles during the American swing of the ATP Tour.
