Andy Murray to join forces with Serena Williams to form deadly Wimbledon doubles team

Andy Murray will play alongside Serena Williams in the mixed doubles at Wimbledon , the Scottish star's management team have announced.

The three-time Grand Slam champion has long been a vocal supporter of women's tennis and will get the chance to partner one of the greatest female players of all time at SW19.

The pair will be among the favourites to lift the trophy as the 32-year-old continues his return to the game after successful hip surgery.

He strongly hinted the pair would join forces and form a box-office partnership.

Murray said: “I am definitely playing in the mixed.

"I have got my partner – well 90% sure. Is it Serena? Possibly. I just need to just confirm it.

"If I hadn't said anything at Queen's with Ash, it was like she was getting pounded with questions about it."
