Andy Murray crashes out of the Vienna Open to teenager Carlos Alcaraz Garfia as rising star takes two set victory

A disappointed Andy Murray lost in straight sets at the Vienna Open title to Spanish wonderkid Carlos Alcaraz Garfia.

The former Wimbledon champion never got going against the 18-year-old on centre court in Vienna.

The pair clashed at Indian Wells earlier this month, with Murray having the better of that that contest, beating Alcaraz 5-7 6-3 6-2.

However, the Spaniard appeared to learn from the previous showdown to pull off the shock win with some sensational tennis.

The Spaniard did get his campaign off in Austria off to a good start with a straightforward 6-3 6-4 win over Brit Dan Evans, and continued that form against Murray.

He broke Murray's serve in the first set to pile the pressure on the Scot with some scintillating early tennis.

The Scotland hero struggled to get going after that and lost the first set 6-3.

In the second set Murray started brightly, but would struggle once again as he eventually fell to a 6-4 loss.

The level displayed by his youthful opponent simply proved too high for the Scottish legend, with Alcaraz surely destined for the very top of the game.

The 18-year-old won the final four games of the second set to ease through, gaining revenge for his defeat at Indian Wells.
